Transfer Contacts from BlackBerry to iPhone

If you’re ditching your BlackBerry for an iPhone, you might wonder how to transfer your Contacts. it’s not as difficult or tedious as you might think. Here’s an easy way to get it done with Google Sync.

Recently, I switched from Blackberry to iPhone and the first concern I had was how to transfer contacts from BlackBerry to iPhone. Many people may find it annoying and difficult to transfer contacts from blackberry to iPhone, but its not as difficult as it seems.

First, open the BlackBerry browser and go to m.google.com/sync. Then install the Google Sync application on your device.

Blackberry Sync 1

Once installed, open Google Sync and log in with your Gmail account.

Blackberry Sync 2

In the next screen select Configure Sync.

Blackberry Sync 3

It will take you to Google Sync settings. Select the items you want to sync, press the menu button and select Save As. Here I checked the Sync Contacts options. Change When To Sync to Manual if you don’t want it to sync every time you add or delete a contact.

Blackberry Sync 4

On the confirmation message, select Yes.

Blackberry Sync 5

The sync process starts and will upload your contact list to Gmail.

Blackberry Sync 6

Now, its time to transfer the contacts to your iPhone. You can do this by adding Gmail as an Exchange Active Sync account. Open Settings on your iPhone and tap Mail, Contacts, Calenders.

Tap on Add Account.

Transfer Contacts iPhone 2

Tap on Microsoft Exchange.

Transfer Contacts iPhone 3

Enter your Gmail address, username and password and tap Next. You can leave the domain field empty. On the next screen, type: m.google.com in the Server field and tap Next to verify your Google account.

Transfer Contacts iPhone 4

Tap the Contacts icon and turn it ON.

Transfer Contacts iPhone 5

It will ask you about the current contacts on your iPhone. Just select Keep on my iPhone to save the current contacts.

It will ask you again if you want to keep the current contacts, it may create duplicate entries. It will now sync all the contacts saved on Gmail to your iPhone.

If you want to delete the exchange account, just sync your iPhone with PC and delete the account from Settings.

Simple and easy, without connecting any device to your computer and going through the tedious process of syncing devices one by one using different desktop software.

What I did when switching my BB for an iPhone is use the BlackBerry Desktop program to move all my BB contacts to my PC. I then imported the contact entries from my computer to my new iPhone via a tool called copytrans contacts:

I guess this is just another alternative way to do it. I do not have a Google account and would rather wish not to mix my email contacts with my iPhone contacts.

I used BlackBerry Backup Extractor, extracted my CSV contacts file on my PC and then imported to Outlook and easily got them back on my iPhone.

Try to follow the steps below:
    1) Plug in Blackberry to computer
    2) Run Blackberry desktop software
    3) Choose which software to sync contacts with (Outlook, Address Book etc…)
    4) Sync Blackberry to that software
    5) Unplug Blackberry
    6) Plug in iPhone….make sure that auto sync is turned off…
    7) On INFO tab in iTunes….check sync contacts…use same program
    8) Sync iPhone..
    9) iPhone will ask if you want to merge or replace data…select merge

It might work in most scenarios, have a try.
