There’s a whole world of music out there, but it can be hard to know where to start. Here’s how to find new music on Spotify.

Spotify Wrapped is a great way to discover the music you’ve been listening to the most each year and what people worldwide have been listening to. If you look at the list of popular songs, albums, or artists and don’t recognize many, you may wonder how people discover all this music. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to discover music that’s newly released or simply new to you on Spotify. If you’re ready to discover your next great musical obsession, here’s how to find new music on Spotify.

Discover Weekly

One of the best places to discover new music is in the Discover Weekly Playlist. This is a Spotify playlist produced by Spotify’s algorithms based on your listening history, containing 30 new songs that those algorithms think you’ll like but are entirely new to you.

The results are awe-inspiring; while you may find the odd song that’s not really your thing, most of the suggestions will align well with your musical tastes and give you some new artists you might want to explore.

The best part is that the playlist updates every Monday, so there’s something new to discover each week.

How to Find the Discover Weekly Playlist

You can find the Discover Weekly Playlist in several places, but the easiest way is through the Search tab. This method will work on desktop as well as mobile.

  1. Open Spotify and tap the Search icon.

Daily Mixes

Spotify drops Daily Mixes and a weekly playlist of new music. These are personalized playlists based on the genres of music that you listen to, divided by genre. If you’ve been listening to some indie but also played a lot of Motown, you’ll find a Daily Mix for each of those genres, featuring some songs you’ve already played and some new songs you have yet to hear. You can have up to six Daily Mixes each day, depending on the variety of music you’ve been listening to. This makes for a great chance to find new music in specific genres.

How to Find Your Daily Mixes on Spotify

You can find your Daily Mixes on mobile and desktop through the Search menu.

  1. Launch Spotify and select Search.

  5. You should see a variety of Daily Mixes in the Your Daily Mixes section.

Release Radar

Spotify’s Release Radar gives you a playlist of 30 songs that have only been released in the last few weeks. This means that you need to specifically search for that music on Spotify to have heard the majority of the songs on the Release Radar playlist. The playlist isn’t just a random collection of newly released music, either. It’s built from new releases from artists you listen to often and some other new releases that the Spotify algorithms think you’ll like.

The more music you listen to on Spotify, the better the selections become. The playlist is updated every Friday, so there’s always something new to listen to each week, but you’ll also lose the previous playlists if you forget to make note of a song you loved and your Release Radar updates. Don’t panic. You should be able to find the song in your Spotify listening history.

If you want to check out the Release Radar playlist, you can find it in a few places, including the Made For You section.

  1. Open Spotify.
  2. Select Search.

  5. You should see a Release Radar playlist in the Discover New Music section.

What’s New

If you’re looking for new music specifically from artists you follow, then the What’s New section is what you need. You can find all the new songs or albums from your followed artists, information about upcoming tours, and even merchandise.

How to Find the What’s New Section on Spotify

Finding your What’s New section is slightly different depending on whether you use the desktop or mobile apps.

  1. Open Spotify.
  2. On mobile, tap your Profile icon.

New Music Friday

New Music Friday is a playlist of new music that is released every Friday, unsurprisingly. Rather than being based on your own listening habits, However, the New Music Friday playlist is based on general popularity, so it contains the most popular songs in your location right now. It’s also a more extended playlist, with 100 songs in the playlist each week. Even though it’s not based on your own musical tastes, you may still discover some new tunes you’ll love by checking out the New Music Friday playlist each week.

How to Find the New Music Friday Playlist

The method for finding the New Music Friday playlist is the same on desktop and mobile.

  1. Launch Spotify.
  2. Select the Search icon.

An artist’s radio station on Spotify is a playlist of songs similar to the style of the artist that you select.

You can find an artist’s radio station by searching for an artist and checking the Featuring section.
