How to Download Videos from Paramount Plus for Offline Viewing

Paramount Plus has officially launched and part of the benefits is the ability to download content for offline viewing on your phone or tablet. Here’s how.

The CBS All Access streaming service has been rebranded to Paramount Plus. This brings all the content you were enjoying from CBS All Access like Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Discovery, and other movies and original programs. But it also brings a slew of new content from CBS, BET, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV, Smithsonian Channel, and more.

Sometimes, though, you might want to download some of the content so you can watch it when you have bad or low network connectivity or are offline entirely. Here’s how to do it.

Note: The service doesn’t allow downloading to your computer. But you can download content via the app on your iPhone or iPad or Android device. You can download up to 25 shows to your device and stream on up to three devices at once. For this article, I am using an iPhone but the process is virtually identical on Android.

Download Videos from Paramount Plus

To get started, launch the Paramount Plus app on your phone or tablet and log in to your account. Then browse to a movie or show you want to download to your device. If it’s available to download press the down arrow icon next to it.

A message will come up asking if you want to be notified when the download is complete. Then you’ll get a message letting you the download is in progress. If you navigate away from the app the download will be paused.

When the download is complete the download icon will change to a checkmark.

When you want to access what you’ve downloaded tap the More menu button and then tap Downloads from the menu.

There you will find a list of everything that’s been downloaded to your device. In the example below, I have three episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants ready to go for offline viewing. Just tap on what you want to watch to begin viewing it.

You are able to manage download preferences by going to More > Settings. There you can enable auto-deletion of downloaded content after viewing it, download over Wi-Fi only, Delete All Downloads, and set the download quality.

Standard Definition: Selected by default. Results in faster downloading, less data, but poorer resolution.

High Definition: Results in slower downloads, requires more data but provides a higher resolution of the content.
